AI: The Girls

Quick post with my thoughts from the girls last night:

  • Asia’h was much better than expected. She’s always sounded a bit horse or breathy, but last night it was really good.
  • Simon was right about Carly Smithson. She was trying to be something she isn’t last night.
  • Alexandrea was a much better performer than expected. Not my style, but I liked her.
  • Syesha is still my favorite by far of the girls. She has such a strong voice and a presence that the others don’t seem to have.
  • Kristy Lee Cook looks a bit like a Barbie doll, right down to her perfectly bent arms while on stage.
  • Goodbye to Amy Davis and one of the cute blondes (Alaina, Kady, Kristy)

Okay…I know I’m a music guy and you would think that American Idol would be up my alley. But it’s really not. What’s even funnier is that when I see the abbreviation “AI” (which I know stand for “American Idol”) I tend to think of “artificial intelligence”. Guess I’m way too much of a sci-fi geek!

I agree with all your comments about the girls. In general I don’t agree with the judges-I think the GUYS are much better this year than the girls. It was obvious after the performance that Amy would be voted off. Youcould hardly even stand to listen to her-she was so off key that it was painful!! But I was sad to see Joanne go home. I felt she had some potential but she definitely picked the wrong song to show off her booming voice.
