Every year we go to Sawmill Creek for the Ohio District’s Junior High Youth Gathering. We usually win the “traveled the farthest” award, which is fun. It’s a great time for youth to get away and experience some great speakers and musicians with 700_ other middle school students. This year, I’m especially excited about going because it’s going to have two of the best in the business.
Bob Lenz will be speaking. He’s really funny. He’s great at sharing the Gospel with teens in humorous yet impacting ways. And the band this year will be Lost and Found. Here are two short videos from them:
Can’t wait!
OK – now I ‘m ready!
Do the sixth graders get to go? If so, when will they start getting info about costs, etc. I know Zack loved it when he went…wishes he could go again!
6th graders can come. The letter with all the info should arrive tomorrow or the next day.
My Pastor from NJ is in the Lutheran Song video at the end. He now lives in Florida, Pastor Ron Myers.
Fun!
I believe Lost & Found are Niagara Falls natives. Michael was a Camp Pioneer guy back in his day. They are funny & fun in concert (we would see them back in my days as a youth group counselor).
They actually got their start at Grace Lutheran in Niagara Falls. One of their grandmothers is still a member there. We saw them “back in the day” about a year ago with the High Schoolers, so we’re carrying on your tradition, T-riff!
When exactly is trip? A youth told me it was a different weekend this year?
It’s March 13-15 this year. We originally published the dates as March 6-8 because that’s when they’ve always had it. This year they swapped it with the retreat in Cincinnati, presumably to make this one (the larger of the two by 4x) not fall on the time change weekend.
It means I’ll get to celebrate my birthday with the youth this year. 🙂
